1976 Westsail 32

location icon Saint Clair Shores, Michigan
Year 1976
Length 32 ft
Price
$18,700

One of the ultimate cult boats the Westsail 32 with a well earned reputation for distance cruising. "Tristam" has been there and done it in the world of distance cruising now its your turn. This is a factory finished, repowered with a Bata Marine, Harken furled yankee and staysail, so it is nicely setup for serious shorthanded cruising. It has spent most of its life in the Great Lakes except for a cruise south and back.

This major price reduction is the result of two events.

1. The owners advancing age and declining health, his only wish is that the new owner pick up the ball and run with Tristam as he had. It is not the money only the care her new owner will give her!!!

2. The boat was surveyed and as you would expect of a 45 year old boat issues were found. Know this right from the start, THIS BOAT HAS BEEN IN CONSTANT SERVICE AND CAN BE LAUNCHED TODAY AND SAIL AWAY!!! It has a rudder that is wet and need attention BUT IS SERVICABLE TODAY. The bottom has 45 years worth of paint on it. The decks are WET but firm under foot. The exterior needs attention that the 80+ year old owner could not do. It has good systems, motor was replaced and has1000 hrs, it is a FACTORY FINISHED BOAT, dual Harken furlers, OLD SAILS, good refrigeration. Please serious inquires only, if you come to see bring a checkbook.

Brokers Notes

This is the second Westsail 32 I have listed this season and the thing that really surprised me was how quickly it sold and how many people were chasing it at the same time. I guess it kind of makes sense, it is impossible to buy such a capable offshore cruiser for this kind of money. As I was taking photos of "Tristam" it was a real eye opener as to the volume and storage capability of a 32' boat. This is a very good boat with a newer 37hp Bata Marine with about a 1000 hours, good sail handling gear, electric windlass and ground tackle, a boat you could castoff on today!!! The interior was factory finished and its in nice condition. The deck finish is showing some age but nothing a bit of paint could improve. All and all it is still a great boat ready for its next adventure!
